ENOZIPHO EDUCARE GETS AN UPGRADE!

Procurement International, who specializes in the sourcing, supplying and installation of hotel furniture, fittings and equipment, generously donated their time and money towards upgrading our educare in Joe Slovo.
The Toddlers classroom is brighter, with the new painted mural on the wall.
ENOZIPHO EDUCARE also received a brand new kitchen, plus a TV/DVD player for Educational Programmes.

As well as refurbishing the crèche, Procurement generously donated R55 000 towards LIGHT BAGS!!

After seeing the poor conditions that the crèche grounds were in, the Australian mission’s team, from Planetshakers, decided to make a generous donation towards putting in a new playground area for the children to play in.

And to complete the playground, Annie King and her team, transformed the crèche’s sand area into a beautiful garden and a wonderful vegetable patch for the children to enjoy.

A CHILLING WINTER FOR THE POOR!

This year SALT has seen over 800 women come through the Isidima doors. Looking for help with Identity Document/grant applications, food, clothing etc. we try to assist these ladies where possible. This past month the weather has been especially cold and most of their homes have no insulation or carpeting and it is FREEZING. We have put together a list of needs for this project. All donations can be dropped off at View Church (cnr Wood Drive and Blaauwberg Road, Table View)

Needs List:
• sleeping bags
• blankets
• soup mix
• tinned food
• children’s clothing

SCHOOL’S TAKE A STAND FOR THE NEEDY!

Prior to the school holidays, the learners and their families were very busy with collecting food ingredients for Light Bags. Blouberg International School and Blouberg Ridge Primary School together fed over 400 people in their community.

One LIGHT BAG will feed a family of 4 for a week

TEEN’S GIVE TO THEIR COMMUNITY

A teen life group from View Church Table View; have come together with one aim, raising money for their community. Luke Hahn, who suggested the idea to the group, said ‘I
am proud of my life group and it is nice to see how such a small bunch of people can come together and make a major difference in the lives of others. Just putting aside our selfishness and be willing to help the people not so privileged as ourselves.’ Robyn Payne, one of the life group leaders, says she’s
seen her group become more compassionate, kind- hearted, genuine and generous givers. It’s incredibly exciting to see the next generation taking ownership of their community and making a difference!

‘*Give a damn’ was a community project headed by ‘View Church – Teen Service[uncontainable]’ that set out to show compassion to the homeless people in our community. The project included: holding a fundraiser to raise money for Bibles (which were bought in isiXhosa, Afrikaans and English); using volunteering mothers to make huge amounts of soup; as well as making sleeping bags out of black bags and newspaper. (The sleeping bags, to our amazement, where highly effective in keeping people warm). On the 6th July 2010, a very cold windy evening, a group of teens meet at View church to get ready to hand the above goods out to the homeless. 40 or so homeless people in the area of Table View, Parklands, Blouberg and Sunningdale were impacted that night. They were warm, had full stomachs and most importantly had God’s word. It was God’s love that touched their lives.

AUGUST 2010

MEDICAL OUTREACH

Our medical team worked with the Sipuma Clinic,a small clinic in the Shangombo District on the Angolan border. The estimated population in this area is 5300 and the clinic staff compliment consists of only two nurses. The clinic has no running water, and the staff have to fetch the water from an open well every morning. The nursing staff are not only responsible to see all the patients during the day, but they also do all their own administration, statistics, baby deliveries, and have to attend to the casualty cases during the course of the day. In the evenings the same staff do ward rounds, making sure the patients eat, and that everyone receives their medication. They are truly on call 24/7. Their functions are not restricted to the clinic and they are also responsible for the roll-out and implementation of innoculation campaigns, antenatal and baby care classes in the surrounding villages.

We salute these nursing staff!

While our team was assisting at the clinic, they helped a lady who had walked 2 hours after giving birth in her nearby village the night before. The placenta was still not delivered, and the cord was tied to a s t i c k t o p r e ve n t i t from slipping b a c k . O u r t e a m w a s able to help her and her baby boy, and they are both doing well!

VOLUNTEER TEAMS

A big thank you to the teams that made many sacrifices to minister with us during July.

The team from Vredelust Gemeente in Cape Town ministered in Mawawa, an area close to Mongu where Hope Church planted a church in 2009. The focus was leadership and business training which was invaluable to the many micro business people in the area. The screening of the Jesus Film was a great success, with many people giving their hearts to the Lord!

The women were taught to k n i t , and this has resulted in a knitting club being established, where the women meet regularly to make i t ems f o r t h e i r community.

A team from X t r e m e I m p a c t , U S A , assisted in a church plant in Liyoyelo on the Zambezi River. These people are nomadic and they move with the seasonal water level fluctuations. The biggest challenge has been that many cults have reached this area before the Gospel, and many have been introduced to the wrong ‘Jesus’. The church plant was nonetheless a success, with the believers meeting on a regular basis.

The team from View Church in Cape Town was definitely moved by their time spent with the vulnerable kids at our Village of Hope. The highlight of their time with us was their ministry in Kaande, one of Hope Church’s new church plants. The team had the privilege of leading a lady in her sixties, who had been demon possessed since her teenage years, to the Lord. It was the first time she had heard that there was hope, and that Jesus could set her free. There was no holding back, and she eagerly accepted Christ and joined the church. Her life has been totally transormed by the Gospel.

PRAYER REQUESTS

We have strated construction of a malnourishment centre as part of the Village of Hope. We still need a lot of resources to make this a safe-haven for severely malnourished children to recover. Please pray that God will provide. Please visit our website for current prayer requests.
