A Devotional series on the book of John
John 12: 42 – 43
Many people did believe in him, however, including some of the Jewish leaders. But they wouldn’t admit it for fear that the Pharisees would expel them from the synagogue. For they loved human praise more than the praise of God.
Day 12 – Don’t get stuck
This is a pretty direct warning from John to anyone who believes in Jesus. Not only are unbelievers stuck in the trap of sin, but believers can be too. These believers were concerned about losing their positions, and the respect and admiration of their religious community if they openly believed in Jesus. They struggled to put aside their ego.
Today, we still struggle with people think about us. Proverbs 29:25 says, “The fear of man brings a snare”. Don’t let people scare you and hold you back. Their thoughts about you are much less important than God’s thoughts about you. People’s opinions can change quicker than their social media status. Run after God’s acceptance.
Think on it:
How can you be bolder in living for Jesus publicly?
