Spring Cleaning Your Heart

Matters of the heart Week 2

Most households have a room where items are stored so that they can be used at the appropriate time or season. Store rooms within the house range from your pantry cupboard or linen cupboard where you store day to day items or It can be your garage or a wendy house that is somewhere in the backyard where those boxes, old appliances or odd ends and bits can be hidden away from the normal day to day view.

Store rooms especially wendy house or garage types of storeroom can tend to get cluttered with things that we keep intending to use at some point. We don't really need them but we are sure we will need them. If we are not careful we can become hoarders of things we think we may eventually need but never actually ever need. It is in such cases that a spring clean becomes a necessary activity in our lives. Spring cleaning helps us to sift the items that bring clutter and disorder in our store rooms and help us maintain order in our homes.

Our hearts are the living space of our lives(out of the heart flows the issues of Life) But just like we can have mini storage spaces in our living spaces so to can our hearts become storage spots which if unchecked can also be places of clutter and havoc. Matters that we are not meant to carry for long period of times or that have no value in our lives can become clutter in our hearts and this can weigh us down and bring pressure in our lives. Our hearts can become places of storage of unreasonable things that we desire to have simply because others have them. We can also store jealousy, anger bitterness and greed within our hearts and these can cause such clutter and disorder which in turn affects how we do life and can ruin our perception on our purpose in life.

Our hearts primarily are meant to be places that house worship, nature relationships, and inspire purpose. It is therefore imperative that we safe guard whatever we put in our hearts because We can end up worshipping the wrong things, growing toxic relationships and valuing the wrong activities believing them to be part of our purpose.

A regular spring cleaning of our hearts will help ensure that we have a healthy stock of worship, relationship and purpose in our hearts.

Consider the following verses today as you begin a Spring clean of what is in your heart today versus what is healthy for your heart.
