Rise Camp
RISE Camp is designed for teens in Grades 4-6 and Grade 7-12.
This camp, we believe, will accelerate their relationship with God and help build their friendships with each other and their leaders.

What are the sleeping arrangements?Campers will be assigned to dorms separated by gender. Teens will be staying with their View Group leader. No boys will be allowed near the girls sleeping areas, and no girls near the boys sleeping area.

Can I invite friends who are not members of the church?Yes, you are welcome to invite friends! The camp is a great way to introduce others to the community and to explore faith together.

What are the dates for camp?Junior Camp: 5-7 October (Sunday to Tuesday) Senior Camp 7-9 October (Tuesday to Thursday)

What type of activities can we expect?Worship sessions and Bible studies View Group time Chill time Team-building games and challenges Sports and outdoor activities (including swimming which is optional) Campfires and group discussions Prayer time and personal reflection

What should I bring to the camp?Bible, journal, pen, book to read Sleeping bag/ bedding, pillow, sheet Swimming gear, sunblock, hat, water bottle Toiletries, towel, plakkies for the shower Plate, cup, spoon, knife, fork, drying up cloth Warm clothing, comfortable shoes for a walk/run Snacks to share Torch Spending money for tuck-shop & merchandise Please ensure your bag, sleeping bag & any valuable items are well labelled

Who can serve at camp?For our Junior camp anyone Grade 7 and up, for our Senior camp anyone age 19 and up from View Church. Please be advised that, this is accompanied by an interview first before any tickets are purchased to serve. Not 'anyone' can serve at camp, we curate specific teams throughout the year to serve. However, if you are interested - you're more than welcome to contact the church and a Next Gen leader will contact you with more information.

Are meals provided?Yes, all meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) will be provided. If you have special dietary requirements, please inform us in in your booking process. There is a vegetarian & vegan meal option. Here is what we ate at the 2024 camp (a guide to our menu this year, it will be similar) Breakfast: Muesli, Yoghurt, Muffin, Cornflakes, Rice Krispies, eggs & bacon Lunch: Beef burgers, cheese grillers Dinner: Penne Bolognese, Grilled Chicken, mash and veg Dessert: Hot Chocolate, Biscuit, Ice Cream Cup

How much ‘extra’ money should my child have for tuck shop/merch?There will be an opportunity to order merch online. And prices will be advertised. Tuckshop will be selling cold drinks, sweets, chips and chocolates during free time. It’s up to each family what they send with their teens.

Where is the camp?SOS - School in the Wilds, Bundu Farm, Villiersdorp.

How will you communicate to your kids/ their leaders?For Junior camp, there will be age and gender specific View Group WhatsApp group created - made up of parents, their View Group leader and kids numbers. In this group, you will receive daily updates, info on team colours and any other relevant information needed for camp. For our Senior camp, there will be a parents only WhatsApp group, where you will receive daily updates about your kids. Seniors will have their own WhatsApp groups with their View Group leaders and they will receive additional information from there. Cell phone service at camp is limited due to location, but you can get into contact with your kids. Most kids are having so much fun, that they forget to contact their parents - if you are ever unsure, contact their View Group leader.

What age groups can attend Rise Camp?Junior Camp: Grade 4-6 (age 10-12) and Senior Camp: Grade 7-12 (age 13-18)

Can I bring my phone?It’s recommended to minimize phone usage to focus on the camp experience, we encourage your not to bring your phone or any other electronics. However if you want to, you can bring your phone, but it may only be used during free time. Any personal belongings brought to camp will be at your own risk.

Will there be adult supervision?Yes, there will be adult supervision - View Church Staff, Young Adults and Parents.

What happens in case of an emergency?We have a first-aid station and certified personnel on-site. In case of emergencies, parents will be contacted immediately, and we are near a local medical facility.

When are the buses leaving?All buses will depart and drop off at View Church Table View. Junior Camp - arrival time is 13:30pm on Sunday, the 5th and pick up time is 14:30pm on Tuesday, the 7th. Senior Camp - arrival time is 8:30am on Tuesday, the 7th and pick up time is 14:30pm on Thursday, the 9th. Please take note that if you child is serving at Junior and attending Senior (teenager) / you're an adult serving the full Dream Team week - you'll leave the 5th and return on the 9th of October.
