Day 19: Life To The Full – Paid in Full!

John 19:30

When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished.” With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.

Day 19 – Paid in Full! 

Jesus’ declaration, “It is finished” meant that the debt for our sin had been paid in full.

 Until this time, a complicated system of sacrifices had been the only way to atone for sins. Sin separates people from God, and only through the sacrifice of an animal, a substitute, could people be forgiven and become clean before God.

The word “finished” is the same as “paid in full.” Jesus came to finish God’s work of salvation. He finished the work God gave him to do.

When Jesus says, “It is finished,” it was a shout of victory. He completely paid our debt. His death on the cross was the sacrifice for our sin.

Remember: John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Think on it: 

Have you been trying to make your own way to God?

Have you been trying to earn your way into heaven?

Jesus says, “It is finished.” You don’t need to do anything to have access to God. He’s done everything! You just need to trust him.
